H'mong Batik Painting

Bring a breeze to your room with one of our delicately H'mong batik paintings. H'mong women use Tjantingpaint pen to draw Hmong traditional patterns on the hemp fabric then have it naturally dyed and dried under the sun until it has its iconic indigo blue. Detailed motifs show off the brilliant skills of local women. 

This ancient technique has been preserved and passed down through generations by the H'mong people, making the patterns on the fabric like historical records, telling stories from the past to the present about life in the highlands. H'mong girls, from the age of 7 or 8, are guided by their grandmothers and mothers, learning each stitch by hand. By the time they reach adulthood, these girls have developed skilled hands and mastered the art of creating and decorating vibrant patterns.
