Fire is the key, they believe, that opens the door between the spiritual and physical worlds, linking them to their roots. They even consider the kitchen god to be one and the same as the fire god. This god holds a sacred place in their homes, providing warmth on cold winter days. From the steamed rice on their tables to the sweet soup they enjoy, everything is thanks to the fire god. Even the quality of their home-brewed wine is said to depend on the kitchen god's blessing.
